These are not twins or first cousins, they are enemies of one another. One will mean doom for your life and future, the other blessing and prosperity. One destroys honor the other promotes it. One exalts self the other exalts God. The two are not compatible, like oil and water, they don’t mix. [Proverbs 29:23] “A man's PRIDE will bring him low, But the HUMBLE in spirit will retain honor.” You have a choice to make and it’s a hard one because we don’t recognize pride in ourselves. The proud are the last to see it. You have to be honest, pray and repent. ‘God, if there is any pride, I choose otherwise, I’m turning from my pride and taking the position of humility’. Humility is seeing yourself as God does. Maybe it will help if we see the consequences of our pride. The word in the above scripture says that ‘...pride will bring him LOW...’. The word means to sink or be abased...THIS IS WHAT YOUR PRIDE WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE. [Proverbs 16:18] This takes it a little further: “Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.” This is why it’s worth exploring whether it is present in our lives...it eventually destroys...and the destruction is thorough and complete. Humility, on the other hand, brings HONOR. God recognizes when it is present and will bless and prosper your life. We need to begin with attitude...WE’RE NOT ALL THAT...as they say. Take the low position in life, not a false humility that says, ‘I’m worthless, nothing...have no value etc...but a real position that truly sees ourselves as God sees us. [Romans 12:3] “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” It’s really quite simple, an honest view that contradicts our pride. PRIDE AND HUMILITY?... Make your choice today!... IT’S ONE OR THE OTHER.
