We all have them and we should know what they are...otherwise you run the risk of being ensnared by them. You should be able to readily admit the areas where you are weak. If you mask or cover them you are disadvantaging yourself and insuring a possible collapse. I put it in those terms because people aren’t ensnared by some mysterious outside force...IT’S SOMETHING INSIDE OF US. The Apostle Paul...a great Christian, church pioneer, and missionary, the one who wrote 2/3 of the New Testament, had weaknesses and he acknowledged them before God and to all of us: [1 Corinthians 2:3] “I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.” WEAKNESS, FEAR, TREMBLING...REALLY! Not the Apostle Paul!...YES THE APOSTLE PAUL! It’s completely human to be weak so you might as well admit it so that God can help you in the areas where you are weak. Paul’s answer? [2 Corinthians 12:9] “And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” HIS POWER HAS TO MEET YOU AT YOUR POINT OF WEAKNESS. Where are you weak? That is for you to identify and admit. You could be morally weak in terms of lust, you might have a short fuse and you get angry easily. You might be the kind of person who struggles to forgive or you may have an unhealthy habit that is undermining your success. Some people lack discipline when it comes to their words. These are just a few, your weakness may lurk elsewhere, but whatever your weakness is you must be honest about it. Would it be too much for you to recognize that JESUS WAS WEAK? Remember He was God...but also human. [2 Corinthians 13:4] “For though Jesus was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.” He chose the course of demonstrating His weakness otherwise the crucifixion could not have taken place. His weakness was overcome temporarily by the power of others....but of course, THE POWER OF GOD ASSERTED ITSELF AND HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD. In the same way, God’s power, applied to your weakness will cause you to rise above it. Take time to consider this. DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR WEAKNESS ARE? Now you have an idea about what to do.
