This is a term that describes a position we need to be in when we are expecting something bad or challenging to happen...BRACE YOURSELF. The term means to prepare yourself for something unpleasant, extra-ordinarily challenging, or something surprising or unexpected. It is a good position for us to be in at all times. I don’t mean it in the context that something bad is sure to happen so you better brace yourself. Life is challenging and filled with surprises, you never know when you're going to be hit with something unexpected. So, BRACE YOURSELF! We can do this every day in prayer. This is where we are fortified, it is where our faith grows so that we can meet whatever challenge we may face with courage. [Ephesians 3:16] “...that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man.” Prayer is where we are strengthened a little more today than we were yesterday. When you brace yourself...it means you’re ready to take a hit, overcome obstacles and push back on every assault of our adversary. This was King David’s failure when he saw a woman bathing. He hadn’t braced himself against every possible temptation...when he got hit, he collapsed. On the other hand, when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness He had already braced Himself for such assaults. His response to Satan: [Luke 4:3-4] “And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Jesus was ready because he BRACED HIMSELF AGAINST EVERY POSSIBLE ASSAULT. Your challenge is to do the same...so today, BRACE YOURSELF...YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO FACE!
