Apples and Tablets

APPLES AND TABLETS. What in the world do they have in common? As it turns out a whole lot. King Solomon uses the imagery of APPLES AND TABLETS to communicate a very powerful truth.  [Proverbs 7:2-3] “Keep my commands and live, And my law as the APPLE of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; Write them on the TABLET of your heart.” He, of course, is referring to God’s Word, what it is and where it is located in our lives. The phrase ‘The Apple Of Your Eye’ refers to something you cherish and value above everything else. The Bible says that WE ARE THE APPLE OF GOD’S EYE! [Psalms 17:8] “Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings...” It is another way of stating God’s love for us. That is how we are to view God’s Word...something cherished above all else. His Word is the most valuable possession we have. It’s His letter to man, His instruction manual for life, it is His self-revelation... Every thing we need to know about God is located in His Word. Therefore KEEP IT AS THE APPLE OF YOUR EYE. Then, God’s word needs to be located somewhere. Not on a bookshelf collecting dust...but it needs to be WRITTEN ON THE TABLET OF YOUR HEART. When you read it with a hunger and love for it, that is precisely what happens...His word is locating itself where it belongs...IN YOUR HEART. As you are reading His Word today realize more is going on than just the physical act of reading. The Holy Spirit is involved in your Bible reading to secure the Word Of God in your heart so that from that position it can begin to bear its fruit in your life. APPLES AND TABLETS, a profound truth for you to meditate on today!
